Hello! My name is Ryan McHugh👋. Born and raised in Montréal, I have worked in customer success and project management for 10 years. I pride myself on being someone you can rely on, someone who is entrepreneurial, and someone who will champion the product, the company, and importantly, the customer.
I hope that you can learn a little bit more about me as you read through my website. I invite you to reach out to me if you have any questions – I would love to chat.
Cheers!
Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to work on wide-ranging projects which have allowed me to make an impact at every level of an organization. I have worked directly with Human Resources to make sure new hires receive the critical training necessary to succeed. Marketing teams to ensure the right message is delivered to their customers. And with C-Suite executives to develop company-wide applications which shape their future.
All my success circles back to my love of learning, communication, and technology.
From 2013 to 2016 I attended Concordia University in Montréal, Québec. There, I graduated from the School of Community, Public Affairs, and Policy Study and minored in English Literature. I had ambitions to become an English Literature Professor at the time. I quickly developed an interest in organizational development and communication, and found a way to bring my love of education into the business sector.
From 2017 to 2019 I was running my own video production business called McHugh Media. I loved having my own business! It granted me the opportunity to work on some amazing projects with different organizations. I worked with McGill University on an educational application they were building and Thaï Express to produce a commercial for the launch of their new uniforms. It’s with McHugh Media that I began to develop my customer success skills and business acumen.
Over the course of several years, I worked closely with one of Canada’s largest mortgage lending institutions to develop a multi-year client facing education program. Over the course of this project, my team and I developed over 60 videos in multiple languages aimed to simplify complex mortgage programs and financial terminology. This project become a stable foundation of the business and allowed us to grow the company further.
Organizational learning and development has always been at the core of the organizations I worked with. In 2021, I helped build a foundational pillar of the company’s revenue stream with a custom LMS solutions. Along with my team of developers, we built LMS’ tailored to the business and training needs of our customers and their 1000s of employees. Our LMS’ were designed to be scalable and modular, allowing for continued user injection and program enhancements.
During the pandemic, I worked closely with a large Canadian insurance provider to improve peer-to-peer knowledge sharing. Over the course of this project, I worked closely with high-performing brokers to capture their best practices and distribute the knowledge across the organization. In doing so, I helped create and country wide video campaign to improved broker’s results and increased collaboration during a period when it was difficult to do so.
A significant success of my is delivering a full stack custom inspection and scheduling application for a multinational organization. I managed a team of developers in Canada and India using Agile to ensure consistent updates and deliveries. I was critically involved in the sales and design process, managed its development, and eventual user onboarding and training. The end result being a wholistic application that is now a foundational pillar of the organization’s business.
With the ever-increasing need for effective cybersecurity and governments beginning to enforce standardization, I helped design, scope, and manage a cybersecurity audit readiness application that aligns to Canada’s national cybersecurity framework. Through analysis and SME interviews, I helped identify the compliance requirements expected by the framework. By designing the application around these needs, I along with my team, developed a SaaS solution that helps SMBs become more secure.
I love coming up with an idea for a video, planning the shots and bringing it life in the editing room. I also love photography and bring my Canon 80D with me whenever I travel.
I have always loved film and TV! So much so that I used to write movie reviews for my high school and CEGEP newspapers.
I grew up always being active and running around the forest in my backyard. I enjoy playing soccer and tennis, paddle boarding and hiking. I like to pretend that I’m an athlete – not to brag, but I came 9th place in my Fantasy Formula 1 team last year…
I love learning about how things work. Taking something apart and putting it back together again. Being actively interested in technology has allowed me to become self-taught in skills I would have never otherwise been exposed to.
I have always enjoyed solo travelling. Over the last 15 years I have travelled through Asia, bounced around Europe and lived in Costa Rica, creating incredible memories along the way. Travelling is the one thing everyone should pursue throughout their lifetime.
